The School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors has discovered a new sense of purpose under
the leadership of President Marcy Spratt ’09. She has effectively led the Board in honoring our renewed
commitment and creating a solid foundation for the future success of the School of Law Alumni Association.
“Since the spring of 2015, the Board has been hard at work in fine-tuning its structure and creating programming focused on building
a more engaged alumni community with stronger ties to the School
of Law. Though we are still in the early stages of this transition,
we have made great strides in achieving our goals and I am very
optimistic about the future direction of the Association.”
ALUMNI BOARD By Kim Roeder
One of the central goals of the Board is to engage our distinguished alumni. Whether you’re at a First Tuesday
event, a President’s Alumni Reception, Homecoming, or a School of Law Alumni Association gathering, the Board
invites you to attend one of these events and learn more about our endeavors.
Members also encourage you to volunteer your time and talent. Become a class agent, an event host, or even
serve on a committee as a first step toward becoming a Board member.
“The Board is entering an exciting new era of engagement and participation. We seek members with energy, original ideas, and a presence
about themselves. The Board is an extension of the School and, in that
way, our members represent it in their places of employment and their
communities. We are thrilled with the recent new Board member
appointments and continue to look for the best of the best Western
New England law alumni.” —Marc Strange ’04
Marc Strange, chair of the Nominations Committee, has worked diligently on recruiting new members that are
immediately engaged with the Board. One such member, Stephen Button ’06, who recently joined the Board,
has already devoted his efforts to adapting our governing documents to fit the Board’s future direction. Stephen’s
dedication was not overlooked, and the Board was pleased to elect him to the position of President-elect at our
winter meeting. He looks forward to supporting Marcy in the current efforts of the Board.
One new and notable change is the addition of a the Law Faculty Alumni Committee chaired by law faculty
member Tina Cafaro ’95. The committee is designed to increase the participation of faculty members in alumni
activities and provide a direct connection. John Fitzgerald II will serve as the alumni board representative to this
faculty committee. John currently serves on the Communications Committee of the Alumni Association Board. This
committee is chaired by Linda Fakhoury ’04.
"The recent creation of the School of Law Faculty Alumni
Committee will allow collaboration with the Alumni Association
in order to work together to expand the contact and exposure
between the two groups. We are looking forward to enhancing
this area of communication and providing an additional connection to the School of Law." —Linda Fakhoury ’04
Linda will also be active in constructing this new avenue of communication between alumni and law faculty.
The Law Alumni Association and the Board of Directors look forward to serving you and continuing to
build a more engaged alumni community. Join the LinkedIn page or Facebook group for weekly updates
on alumni and Board members hope to connect with you at one of our events soon. ◆
